Tips to follow before moving to a new home?

Depending on the new home you have to choose the furniture that will be taken and which will remain in the old house with the new owner or will go to someone who needs them. Do not forget to check if the dimensions of the appliances (washing machine, refrigerator, etc.) are adapted in the new house. The rooms make them smaller, take measures to know if they fit both bedside tables after placing the bed. Then, when you get home start selecting clothes, junk and everything you do not want anymore. So it will not lead to the new house, things that you do not care to keep (everything that has not been used in the last 6 months or even a year, will not be used anymore, leave it). Another option is to sell the furniture that does not interest you and make some money.

  • Condition the house before it is empty.
  • Check with a plumber for the condition of the pipes in your new home, such as bathrooms, kitchen, heating, etc.
  • Check the entire electrical system with an electrician.
  • If you are going to paint the walls of your new home, do it before moving.
  • If you have carpets, wash them before you move.
  • Change the locks on the doors to the street.
  • Smoke.
  • Check security in your new home so you can take action.

    & Nbsp;

    Cleaning
    If you have to clean the house after emptying it, try to overtake during the days prior to the move, because once empty you will want to dedicate yourself as many before to your new home. Clean the interiors of closets and drawers before the day of the move, and have someone follow the steps of the moving workers with a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust from the rooms as they remain empty.
    & Nbsp;

    Low supplies (water, gas, telephone)
    Notify the company of electricity, telephone and water to make the change of address or terminate the contract.

    • If your home is insured, contact your insurance company to have the procedures that allow you to secure your new residence.
    • Be sure to save all utility bills, taxes, etc. To avoid further claims.

      & Nbsp;

      Size of furniture
      Be sure that the destination address will come in your furniture, it may be painful, but if the furniture does not enter, it is possible to leave it where it is and try to get value from the new tenant.

      • Acquire your permission for the transfer, in your city councils or district councils, since the majority of municipalities request it. This permit you can take, depending on the city and the directions where to work, with two days or a week in advance. (THE MOVING COMPANY CAN ALSO REQUEST YOU, DEPENDING ON WHICH CITY HALL, MAYBE IS BETTER).

        & Nbsp;

        Storage
        Store in a dry and clean place, so that objects will not deteriorate, in case the time exceeds 15 days.
        & Nbsp;

        Cancel
        Make sure clubs, gyms or video rental stores know that you will no longer attend, or change your address to a nearby branch if possible

        • Pack quarter by quarter marking each box with a specific description of its contents.
          • Pack heavy items such as books in small boxes to make them easier to move and can support weight.
          • Dishes should never be stacked when packing. Put them aside and wrap them in plastic-bubble. Use kitchen towels or cloth handles and place them in the corners of the boxes.
          • Do not use tape directly on the furniture as the glue can ruin the finishes and discard the varnish. Use pieces of rope to wrap them in foam rubber.
          • Clothing that is not delicate or expensive can put it in garbage bags tied at the top. For costumes, dresses and more expensive clothes, it is recommended to buy boxes specially designed for the move.
          • When packing a computer do not forget to create backup discs for information and make sure you do not store them near objects that generate a magnetic field.
          • Do not pack or transport fuel or flammable objects. This includes oil paints, bleaches, matches, etc. All types of sprays such as hair, deodorants, shaving creams and cleaning products should not be carried in the move either.
          • Clearly mark boxes containing fragile items to be handled with care.
          • Prepare a box with the most essential things like certain kitchen utensils, toiletries and some clothing changes that will be very useful while you install.
          • Get a travel medicine kit and keep it handy.
